Meet an American Spy
Force Master Chief Petty Officer
Thomas E. Hayden
1986
Introduction
But this is more than a story of a spy; this is also the story of a man. A man who as a boy was made a ward of the court. A boy who was raised in foster homes, who ran away time and time again. A rebellious teenager who dropped out of high school when he was sixteen with a reputation as a juvenile delinquent. It tells how this same troubled, angry, young man finally found his place. How he became a decorated combat veteran in Vietnam and ultimately became one of the most successful double-agents the Naval Criminal Investigative Service ever developed.

This interesting and informative presentation offers an opportunity for the average American to learn firsthand about the dark side of international relations from a man who lived it.

It is also a compelling example of the resilience of the human spirit. This story will enlighten those from corporate America, veteran's organizations, educational institutions, as well as the individual American citizen.
The November 2000 issue of GQ Magazine includes the true story of a United States double-agent operation, code named "Sackett Land". The principal American involved in this operation was the double-agent, Thomas E. Hayden. Mr. Hayden is now retired from the United States Navy and offers public speaking engagements to interested groups and organizations. He will present a lecture dealing with espionage and counter-espionage operations, giving insight into why and how the United States and other countries conduct those operations.

Mr. Hayden was the subject of a taped interview conducted on FOX Television Channel 10 in Phoenix, Arizona. The interview was aired in February 2001 and was fed nationally to FOX network stations. That same interview was aired on FOX Television Channel 5 in Washington, DC on March 24th, 2001. He has also been interviewed on NBC Television Channel 2 in Flagstaff, Arizona, CBS Television Channel 8 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Channel 13 Television in Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as the talk radio program Northern Arizona Speaks on KVNA Flagstaff, Arizona. In addition to the Arizona Daily Sun, other articles about Mr. Hayden's life have appeared in the Las Vegas Review Journal and Washington Post newspapers, Las Vegas Magazine and the Anthem View newspaper in Henderson, Nevada.
